THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY’S SETH CARR DREAMS TO PLAY MILES MORALES
BY IRVIN RIVERA
American actor SETH CARR has pretty much been into acting since he was a baby. At a young age, he already had several major film and production credits under his belt (Black Panther, Ray Donovan, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, etc). He currently plays the smart George “Sticky” Washington in Disney+’s The Mysterious Benedict Society- a show about a band of gifted orphans recruited by a peculiar benefactor to go on secret missions to save the world.
In this exclusive interview, the emerging actor shared his filming experiences, his creative process, his dream of playing Miles Morales, what keeps him busy, and more.
How would you describe The Mysterious Benedict Society for those who haven’t seen it?
I would say The Mysterious Benedict Society deals with family, trust, bonds adventure, and deception and dealing with daily issues that we deal with in society
What’s unique about the show?
What’s unique about the show would definitely be the characters in it and the circumstances they find themselves in.
What’s the best part about playing George “Sticky” Washington?
The best part about playing Sticky is knowing that no matter what he’s going to be able to figure out a solution since he’s extremely smart
What’s the most memorable moment for you throughout the whole process of making the series/film?
The most memorable moment of this entire process is just watching how much we’ve grown as characters and individuals as actors. I first auditioned for this project when I was 11… I’m 15 now.
Can you walk us through your creative process of getting into character whenever you go and film a scene?
Everyone has their own process when breaking down the material. I literally read everything, put it down and come back to it and start putting things into perspective mentally and physically. I like to be alone in a quiet space while working on my character.
How did acting start for you? Was it something that you’ve always wanted from a young age?
I’ve been acting since I was a baby, and it’s just something that I’m passionate about now that I’m older and understand the business more.
Who and what inspires you?
I’m inspired by my family, watching the sacrifices they’ve all made to help me be where I am as well as who I am and overall teaching me to be humble.
What’s your dream project?
My Dream project is to play Miles Morales in SPIDER-MAN!!
Out of all the roles that you’ve played, is there any role/character that resonated with you the most and why?
I feel it’s probably the role of Sticky since this has been the character THAT I’ve played the longest. I’m actually really shy, and in Season 1 we see that from Sticky, I’m also smart when it comes to solving things.
Aside from acting, what else keeps you busy?
Aside from acting, I play basketball and I’m a sophomore in High school so that within itself keeps me busy.
What are you most excited about in the near future/this year?
Honestly aside from acting, I’m excited to be driving next year when I turn 16.
If you were a book, what book would you be and why?
If I were a book, it would be called “Never Give Up” because I plan on never giving up on any of my dreams or plans of being successful!!!
